Emergency Medical Technician

EMTs learn how to respond quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries, and accident scenes.

Emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics care for the sick or injured in emergency medical settings. People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care provided by these workers. EMTs and paramedics respond to emergency calls, performing medical services and transporting patients to medical facilities.

The EMT Program (formerly known as EMT-Basic) at 911Programs prepares graduates to sit for the National Registry of EMTs certification exam. 911Programs is an authorized test site for NREMT but students do not have to take the NREMT exam with us. 911Programs is an authorized site for final practical examination and students will take their final skills exams here. Upon certification by the NREMT, graduates may apply for state licensure. At the current time, only four states (NY, NC, MT, AK) do not require NREMT EMT certification for licensure. The NREMT map is updated daily and can be found here: https://www.nremt.org/maps

What students are saying about
911Programs

"Hi Bill. I wanted to thank you for accepting me into your EMT program. I enjoyed your class very much even through the difficult and challenging times. In those hard times there was always someone there to answer my questions and I found all the lab instructors polite and willing to help. I have had a wonderful experience with 911Programs Basic EMT course and look forward to enrolling in your paramedic program if accepted. Thank you again."

- Jeff Lenihan

"All of my questions have been answered. I recently passed my NREMT exam on the first try, and now am starting my application for my RI state license. Thank you and all of the 911Programs instructors for preparing me so well for my NREMT exam, as well as for the course final and state psychomotor exams. The course was top-notch, and I am glad I was able to be a part of it. Thank you again."
