Course Description: Certified Phlebotomy Technician

The Phlebotomy Program at 911Programs has been voted “Best of Phlebotomy Education” of the Year in the State of RI by PhlebotomySpot.com for 3 years in a row! Our program combines classroom instruction with actual practical training in our onsite laboratory, where you will learn how to perform successful venipunctures on real arms in multiple settings. The Certified Phlebotomy Technician Program spans 12 weeks (4 weeks of GMS, 1 week break, and 7 weeks of core phlebotomy training) plus a 2 week / 40 hours / week clinical internship which is not necessarily contiguous from the end of the didactic. The course is designed to prepare graduates for work in a laboratory or clinical setting.

We have an arrangement with a local uniform store that can assist students picking out the correct uniform and will have it embroidered. A basic scrub suit is acceptable but most students opt for the Gray's Anatomy brand. Approximate cost $60-$75 depending on brand. Because most programs meet 3 times a week, it is recommended to get 3 uniforms,. It is also recommended that students consider a school hoodie (approximate cost $40) and a baseball cap (if desired, approximate cost $30). Hoodies and caps can be added to student accounts for students who are financing their education with payment plans.

Students will also need a wristwatch for vital signs, a pen, and notepad.

Textbook

  • Phlebotomy Essentials (Lippincott-Raven) 7th ed (6th edition no longer can be used)
  • ISBN: 978-1284209945 (Approximate cost $60 plus shipping)
  • You may loan the textbook from us for $50 which will be returned to you upon return of the book

The Certified Phlebotomy Technician Program at 911Programs prepares students for certification exam by the National HealthCareer Association (NHA).
